Professor Worth Kamili Hayes talks about his award-winning book, "Schools of Our Own: Black Chicago’s Golden Age of Private Education" published by Northwestern University Press in 2020. His work on African-American education, urbanization, and post-World War II activism has been published in the American Educational History Journal, the Journal of Negro Education, and several edited volumes. Dr. Hayes is an Associate Professor of History and Director of Academic and Learning Outcomes at Tuskegee University. Prior to joining Tuskegee, he served as an Assistant Professor of History and Chair of the Department of Social Sciences at Benedict College. He received his B.A. in History from Xavier University and earned his Ph.D. in History from Emory University.
