Hayes "Coach of the Year" Acceptance Speech

Highlighting the theme of Driving the Legacy, Worth Kamili Hayes was recognized as "Coach of the Year" by Honda at its 34th Honda Campus All Star Challenge (HCASC) on April 24, 2023 in Torrance, California.


The Honda All Star challenge is considered America's premier academic competition for students from historically black colleges and universities. More than 200 HBCU students, along with their coaches participated this year. This year's competition was a return to an in-person format after four years.


At the conclusion of the championship Honda recognized Professor Worth Hayes as"Coach of the Year" for investment and commitment of time and resources to his students. Honda said Dr. Hayes achieves this by allowing his team members to express their ideas while guiding them to represent the excellence of their institution. Dr. Hayes serves as Associate Professor of History and Director of Academic and Learning Outcomes at Tuskegee University.
